What is a family office?

A client group.
A range of insurance needs.

A family office is a team or company that helps a family look after its wealth, property and business interests. It may coordinate insurance alongside other advisers.

“Family office” is not a type of insurance policy. A family’s homes, possessions, vehicles, properties and businesses may each need different cover.

You do not need a formal family office to speak to us. We also work with families directly and with the people authorised to act for them.

Start with the assets and activities. We establish the particular insurance requirement and available terms. An enquiry about a family’s interests does not itself establish cover for an investment activity or professional liability.

The interests involved

Personal assets.
Property. Business.

We consider what needs protecting and who owns or operates it. Separate assets and liabilities may require separate policies.

Working with your advisers

Clear roles.
A considered recommendation.

  1. Identify the point of contact. Explain who is instructing us and who should be involved.
  2. Describe the interests. Begin with the broad assets, activities, ownership and renewal dates.
  3. Agree the next step. We explain the information needed, the available options and the proposed cover.

Do we need a family-office policy?

There is no single policy implied by this page. We discuss the actual assets, businesses and liabilities before considering which insurance policies may be appropriate.

Can an adviser make the first approach?

Yes. Explain your role and who you represent. Obtain appropriate authority before sharing another person’s information.

Can you consider business interests as well as personal assets?

Yes. We can discuss the insurance requirements of the businesses and properties involved. The activity, ownership and insurer terms determine the available arrangements.

Do you provide investment advice?

No. This website describes general insurance services. It does not offer investment, legal or tax advice.
